Amboseli National Park entry fee 2026 at a glance
The current Amboseli tariff has applied since 1 October 2025. It has one rate for the whole year, with no high-season or low-season split. Non-residents pay $90 per adult and $45 per child. Residents and citizens pay in Kenyan shillings (KES). The fee is a day fee for a single entry of up to 24 hours and is not a multi-entry pass.
Park fees are only one part of the cost. A vehicle fee is added for each day, and a guide, a lodge or a camp come on top. If you book through an operator, check whether the entry fee is included, for example on a Amboseli safari tour.

Entry fees by visitor category
Rates in force in 2026. Adult and child columns.
| Visitor category | Adult | Child or qualifying student |
|---|---|---|
| East African citizen | KES 1,500 | KES 750 |
| Kenya resident | KES 2,025 | KES 1,050 |
| Non-resident | $90 | $45 |
| African citizen from outside East Africa | $50 | $25 |
East African citizen means a national of a country of the East African Community. It is not the same as living in Kenya. A resident needs a valid Kenyan residence permit. For most international visitors the relevant row is the non-resident rate of $90 per adult and $45 per child.
Our pick: park fees in the price
This day safari already has the park fee in the price, so it is a clear reference point against tours where it is extra.

Vehicle fees, rangers and extras
These are charged per vehicle or per service, not per person.
| Vehicle capacity | Fee per day |
|---|---|
| Fewer than 6 seats | KES 600 |
| 6 to 12 seats | KES 1,500 |
| 13 to 24 seats | KES 3,000 |
| 25 to 44 seats | KES 4,500 |
| 45 seats or more | KES 5,000 |
Ranger escorts cost KES 2,000 per ranger for up to 4 hours and KES 4,000 above that, with at least 2 rangers. This is a security-guided service, not the price of a private driver. Drones need a licence from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority plus a fee of $300 per drone, per day and per park for non-residents. Ask at the gate about parking instead of assuming it is free.
Children, students and exemptions
Definitions that change what you pay.
Children
A child is defined as aged 5 to under 18. Children aged 5 and younger are exempt, and a child is also defined as 5 to under 18, so age 5 appears in both rules. If your child is exactly 5, ask when you pay.
Students
The student rate applies to a documented, organised educational visit by a recognised institution, for students up to the age of 23. It is not a general discount for every student.
School visits
A promotion for school visits runs until 30 November 2026, at KES 500 instead of KES 750 for Amboseli. It is not a general child rate and not an offer for individual foreign travellers.
Exemptions
Kenyan citizens aged 70 and over, people with disabilities and registered drivers, guides and porters are exempt. There is no blanket waiver for older visitors of all nationalities.
How to pay the park fees
Payment is cashless and mostly online.
KWSPay on eCitizen
For trips you organise yourself, you pay through the Kenya Wildlife Service payment system, KWSPay, on eCitizen. M-Pesa, Visa and bank transfer are among the options.
Extra fees online
Online payments can carry a gateway fee of 5 percent, card costs of up to 3.5 percent and an administration fee, in place since 1 November 2025. The final total can therefore be higher than the tariff.
Check before you travel
The payment system changed in autumn 2025 and the available methods can differ. Confirm what works for your card or phone before you reach the gate.
Camping and the Chyulu Hills
Adult and child rates in 2026. Park entry is charged separately.
| Category | Public campsite, Amboseli | Special campsite, Amboseli | Chyulu Hills entry |
|---|---|---|---|
| East African citizen | KES 250 / 200 | KES 500 / 250 | KES 500 / 250 |
| Kenya resident | KES 350 / 250 | KES 700 / 350 | KES 675 / 350 |
| Non-resident | $30 / $25 | $50 / $25 | $40 / $20 |
| African citizen from outside East Africa | $15 / $13 | $25 / $15 | $20 / $10 |
Check the billing unit when you book a campsite. A special campsite can also be reserved for KES 10,000 per week, non-refundable, and a rate does not mean a place is free on your dates. The Chyulu Hills column is the entry fee for that separate park, covered on the Chyulu Hills page.
For combined trips, the tariff lists a Tsavo West and Amboseli package at $150 per non-resident adult and a Tsavo East, Tsavo West and Amboseli package at $215. See the Tsavo park fees guide and, for the Mara, the Masai Mara park fees.

Is the price different in high season?
No. The Amboseli rate has no seasonal split in the current tariff, which has applied since 1 October 2025.
Can I pay at the gate in cash?
Plan for cashless payment. Payment runs through KWSPay on eCitizen, with M-Pesa and Visa among the options. Confirm the available methods before you travel.

No. This is an independent travel guide and not the website of the Kenya Wildlife Service or any park operator. Use it to plan, and confirm the final amount when you pay.
